Secretary General of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Dr. Mustafa Sayed said the organisation is studying with the UN rescue bodies’ ways of investing the $20 million which was donated by Bahrain during the Donors Conference in Kuwait early this year to support the Syrian people.
He added that RCO has been charged ever since His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, announced the donation, to coordinate with official parties and choose appropriate rescue projects.
He said that RCO usually does not pay cash donations but carries out rescue projects. “Therefore, Bahrain’s projects are successful and distinguished in areas of conflicts and those hit by earthquakes, floods…etc,” he pointed out, stressing that RCO, thanks to the support of HM the King and the leadership of its Board of Trustees Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, took the lead in extending assistance to the Syrian people.
“Four schools were built for children at Zaatari Camp,” he noted, adding that RCO will open soon a psychological guidance centre for the Syrian children there.
“I will go shortly after Eid Al-Fitr to Zaatari camp to inspect the Bahraini rescue projects and open the psychological guidance centre at Bahrain’s schools there,” he said, pointing out that the new centre will be named the creativity centre to avoid the sensitivity of the name “psychological centre” for some people.
“The centre is being equipped with the needed décor, children’s games, psychological experts…etc,” he explained, wishing Syria peace and stability.
