Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Minister Dr. Juma’a bin Ahmed Al Ka’abi, said that the Ministry was moving forward in the implementation of its National Strategic Plan for Agricultural Development during 2013 to increase green areas and agricultural production.
Al-Ka’abi added the ministry has supported the plant production, expansion of green areas and farmer’s support within the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Agricultural Development based on the government work program under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Ministers, and in line with the national quality initiative for the development of the agricultural sector that has had drawn the interest and support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King.
He continued saying the ministry is keen to push the project of increasing palm trees in residential areas and provides free palm seedlings and directive information about means of raising and caring of palm trees, where 4600 Palm trees and 1815 various local tree have been distributed, including pomegranate, raspberry, almond, mango and lotus, to be planted in various areas in the kingdom, as well as providing advisory, training and supportive programs for the farmers.
Al-Ka’abi affirmed, based on the directives of the government, the ministry’s keenness to push the agricultural sector within the efforts of bolstering food security in the Kingdom, praising the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King for the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.
