The Cabinet on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist explosion targeting children and the elderly, very close to a public park in Budaiya on Saturday.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the regular weekly Cabinet meeting at the Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet denounced the escalating terrorist attacks that aim to harm innocent civilians in this Holy month and noted that such attacks – including a recent bombing at a mosque where worshipers were praying – aim to cause Sectarian divisions within the community. The Cabinet holds responsible those who incite and escalate violence in these cowardly attacks. They noted that the repetition of such terrorist acts confirms the need to activate the recommendations of the National Assembly and the need to speed up its implementation on the ground, which the government is determined to do and working very hard to achieve.
The Cabinet called upon the community to be vigilant and cautious of schemes aimed at subverting national unity and encouraging social divisions. They stressed that in order to prevent the destruction of Bahrain’s social fabric, the law will be fully applied to terrorists and those who support and incite them. The Cabinet recognizes that terrorist groups will not be able to penetrate our national fabric due to the strong bond that exists between the leadership and the people. With the Eid Al Fitr occasion nearing, the Cabinet sends its utmost regards and congratulations to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa; HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa; HRH Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister; all Bahraini citizens and residents upon this joyous occasion. The Cabinet offered prayers on this occasion asking God to grant wealth, development and prosperity to the Kingdom’s leadership and people, as well as all the Arab and Muslim nations, and accept all the good deeds and fasts completed by Muslims during the Holy month of Ramadan.
HRH Prime Minister then followed up on the workflow and steps taken by ministries and specialized government agencies in order to implement the recommendations of the National Assembly.
HRH commissioned a Supreme Civil Committee (headed by HE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa) and a Security Committee (headed by HE the Minister of Interior) to ensure the highest levels of coordination between different government entities in order to implement the recommendations related to the civil and security levels of government.
HRH stressed the need to assign the responsibility of implementing the recommendations to personnel and departments who are able to activate what is stated in the recommendations, as they represent the demands of the people and comprise a social and security strategy that protects the nation from terrorism. He noted the results must be concrete and tangible in the community to improve security and stability.
The Cabinet approved the draft law bill to amend some provisions of Law 33 (2006) on sanitation and surface water drainage. The amendment prohibits the modification of connections to public sanitation, including the modification, cutting or drainage of surface water without obtaining a permit from the proper government authority. The Cabinet decided to take Constitutional procedures in preparation for referring it to the legislative authority.
The Cabinet approved the creation of a public administration for radio communications under the Minister of State for Communications that specializes in the following: (1) promoting policies and standardized procedures; (2) developing and improving the radio communications network; (3) providing best practices to ensure compliance with the level of exposure to electromagnetic fields including positioning of the radio communications sites; and (4) designing and issuing regulations and requirements relating to the establishment and development of towers and radio stations, as well as regulations related to radio communications network.
In regards to a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning, the Cabinet examined a number of proposals and options that support livestock ranchers in line with the Government’s efforts to support sustainable animal production in order to ensure the promotion of food security, and decided to refer the matter to the Specialized Committee for further study.
The Cabinet took note of a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Labor listing some of the work indicators for the second quarter of the year 2013, showing that the unemployment rate during the quarter was 4.7% and average monthly employment increased by 1846 individuals.
The Cabinet referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs a draft law bill on Information and Communications (submitted by the Minister of State for Information Affairs) on regulating audio-visual media and press, as well as printing and publishing, which will contribute to the development of the State’s media structure, institutional capabilities and media presence in various fields.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the House of Representatives on the establishment of a public garden and football fields in Jid Hafs.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the House of Representatives on the allocation of three sites for trucks; specifically (1) adjacent to the King Fahad Causeway, (2) adjacent to the to be established Qatar Causeway and (3) adjacent to Khalifa bin Salman Port.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the House of Representatives on the establishment of model public garden serving the villages of Diraz, Bani Jamra, Barbar, Saar and Markh located in the third district of the Northern Governorate.
