Minister of State for Information Affairs and the Government’s Official Spokesperson Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab has affirmed that the amendments stipulated by the Royal Decree to protect society from terrorist acts are lasting legislations and not just temporary procedures, noting that there are tougher laws in other countries.
She pointed out that explicit instigation in some religious platforms falls under this law and amendments to it after having been tolerated by the state.
In a statement to Radio Monte Carlo, the Minister of State stressed that liberties are guaranteed by the constitution and that Bahrain has, over the past twelve years, made landmark strides towards an advanced democratic society, warning of a systemic project staged by some foreign sides to spread chaos in the region.
She said that over the past two years, terrorist have been staging acts that affect Bahraini people’s security, noting that the members of that small group, who are guided by the Wilayat Al-Faqih doctrine ( Guardianship of the Islamic Jurists), especially those who are fully loyal to the Iranian Supreme Leader, are directly involved in those terror incidents.
She underlined that Bahrain, like any other country, has the right to devise deterrent laws, asserting that some countries have more severe legislations, pointing out to the danger of religious incitement through religious pulpits, which, she said, leads to suicide attacks, murder of others and killing of policemen.
Minister denied reports that Bahrain is facing a security problem, noting that the state needs to adjust the cultural and religious situation, regulate and enforce deterrent laws because it is not used to such terrorist incidents like other countries.
She added that the Arab region, as a whole, is targeted by a systematic project of chaos and violence staged by foreign sides whose only goal is “wreck havoc in our countries, including Bahrain, and bring about sectarian division in our societies.”
Regarding the guarantors for liberties and freedoms, the Government’s Official Spokesperson said that Bahrain is a constitutional state in which liberties are protected by the constitution, explaining that the Kingdom of Bahrain launched its reform project twelve years ago and has made milestone strides in putting forward an advanced democratic society by all standards, and its citizens enjoy progress, prosperity, civilization, social freedoms and openness.
She underlined that such landmark achievements cannot be given up because of sectarian groups which trying to drag the country back and, therefore, the kingdom has no choice but adhere to the law to maintain its accomplishments, values and lifestyles enjoyed by the citizens for a long time.
She emphasized that the National Consensus Dialogue is still there and the government is keen to go ahead with it in order to reach consensus because it is the first and basic means to eliminate terrorism, sideline the small terrorist group and solve the crisis once for all after reaching agreed upon deals, noting that interlocutors agreed to re-join the dialogue table after the holy month of Ramadan.
She pointed out that the member of the terror group are trying to involve society in its attempt to achieve their agenda, asserting that they are abandoned by the public because the citizens no longer trust them out of their belief that they serve an agenda that has nothing to do with the homeland.
She said that the human rights organizations, on which those terrorist groups rely, are no longer credible enough to defend the issues which are directly related to the daily life of the citizens, stressing that they leave all key aspects and issues that relate to Bahrainis’ daily life and support those small groups under the pretext of human rights.
She affirmed that those organizations, which belong to big countries, are implementing a systematic project to spread terrorism and chaos across the Arab region.
She confirmed that the Bahraini people boasts of an ideal luxury, including high-quality free educational and health services, tax-free services and almost free housing.
She said that Bahrainis do not suffer from problems and all reform demands are being examined and implemented and more reforms are expected.
She stressed that seeking reform through coups, terrorism and murder is alien to the Bahraini people’s deep-rooted values and is not backed by the citizens.
