Japan is seeking the lifting of the import ban imposed by the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) on Japanese food items after the Fukushima Nuclear Power plant hit by the tsunami, according to the Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi
“Japan is very keen to seek a review by the GCC on the imports of the Japanese food and other items which had been imposed in fear of contamination after the Fukushima nuclear power plant tragedy,” the Ambassador, said, adding that some countries have had reviewed and lifted the embargo following zero contamination in Japanese products.
“GCC as a bloc had imposed the ban and Japan is keen to see the reversal of the ban since there is no condemnation caused by the Fukushima tragedy,” Ambassador added.
