His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed that the National Assembly’s initiative to hold an extraordinary session reflects the keenness of the representatives of the people to translate into the ground the popular desire to toughen penalties in order to protect society from terrorism and- maintain Bahrain’s position as an oasis of security and stability.
HRH Premier asserted that the government started implementing the recommendations of the National Assembly’s extraordinary session as soon as they were referred to it through forming special committee that monitor the implementation process, expressing pride in the National Assembly’s follow-up of the government’s implementation of those recommendations.
HRH Prime Minister underlined the government’s resolve to turn the recommendations into reality, and stressed that those who may be reluctant to do that will be relieved, noting that Bahrain is full of loyal citizens who are looking forward to doing that.
He expressed sincere thanks to MPs for their patriotic initiative, lauding His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s quick response to the initiative by requesting the National Assembly to convene.
HRH Premier emphasized that the recommendations stem from the Bahraini people’s desire to protect its national security, stability and economic development, noting that they reflect the shared visions of the Executive and Legislative branches vis-à-vis combating terrorism.
“We are here to thank the representatives of the people for assuming their national responsibilities and making such recommendations that will remain engraved in the kingdom’s history just like the other innumerable honourable stances of the Bahraini people,” he said.
He added that Bahrain has the right to ensure its security and stability and protect its sovereignty and independence.
This came as HRH Premier visited the headquarters of the Legislative Authority where he met with the Speaker of the Representatives Council Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Chairman of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, members of the two councils’ Bureaus and chairmen of parliamentary blocs.
HRH Prime Minister said that the government will turn the popular will, represented in those recommendations, into legislations, laws and procedures to meet the popular desire of consolidating security and stability.
He pointed out that the Bahraini people’s strong rejection of terrorism echoed in the National Assembly which responded positively to the popular will and issued its recommendations, pledging the government’s determination to use executive and legislative means to implement them, given their importance as a social security strategy that will help consolidate the government’s potentials to maintain security and stability and combat and eradicate terrorism.
HRH Premier said that the support of the Legislative branch to the government’s efforts to ensure security and stability emanates from the Bahraini people since the Representatives Council whose members are directly elected by the citizens.
HRH Prime Minister emphasized that Bahrain has “enough history and capacity” to face the challenges and drive its own solutions, stressing that during the current phase, the kingdom will focus on enhancing development and nation-building, taking into account security and stability, essential prerequisites for progress and prosperity.
He pointed out that those who resort to terrorism in order to distract the government from carrying on its development projects or affect the kingdom’s deep-rooted solid social fabric should read Bahrain’s history in order to draw lessons from it, noting that those obstacles will have no effect in the near future.
HRH Prime Minister asserted that the Executive and Legislative branches are partners that share similar national responsibilities and both are driven by loyalty to the homeland, adding that the main concern of the government is to restore the kingdom’s status as an oasis of security and stability.
He affirmed the government’s support for the supervisory and legislative roles of the members of the Representatives Council, being the representatives of the Bahraini citizens who, he asserted, are the basis of all government efforts, calling upon them to provide the government with legislative tools in order to be able to meet the requirements of the current phase.
Speaker of the Representatives Council extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for his visit which, he said, testifies to his support for the popular will reflected in the recommendations on which MPs reached consensus, stressing that the Legislative Authority backs all measures taken by the government to combat terrorism and dry up its sources.
The Chairman of the Shura Council praised HRH Premier’s visit testifying to his interest to strengthen cooperation between the Legislative and Executive authorities in a way that serves the interests of the nation and the citizens.
He noted that cooperation with the government, chaired by HRH Premier, has always been based on mutual respect and focused on consolidating the democratic march and enhancing the development process so as to earn the kingdom and its loyal people more landmark achievements during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Prosperous Era.
