The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, on Tuesday said that Philippines has emerged a time-tested and true ally of Bahrain and both countries would continue to seek bolstering relations in all areas of common interests.
Shaikh Khalid expressed the pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening its ties with the Republic of the Philippines, praising the ongoing cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
He was speaking at a meeting with the Republic of the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Albert Del Rosario, who is currently visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Foreign Minister affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to bolster cooperation and coordination in various fields, under the guidance of the leaderships and governments of the two countries, for the benefit of their people.
Shaikh Khalid also praised the role of the Filipino community and its contribution to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Republic of the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of the Philippines President to the Kingdom’s leadership, expressing the pride of the Philippines government and people over the progress of bilateral ties.
He also praised the serious and constructive measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to boost reforms as well as the government’s keenness to care for the Filipino community.
The meeting included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kingdom of Bahrain Foreign Ministry and the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs related to bilateral consultation to enhance coordination.
It stipulated that that the first round of talks will be held early next year in the Philippines capital, Manila.
Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa region, the situation in South East Asia as well as the exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
