Vice Admiral John Miller, USN, Commander of CMF, who briefed the visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Manama on Sunday, has formally requested to deploy the Japanese P3C Reconnaissance planes in a bid to fight the piracy in the Arabian seas.
Japan is one of contributors to the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and the Japanese Prime was informed by the Vice Admiral Miller about the success of the Combined Task Force and the vast area that is being constantly guarded by this global alliance under the flag of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet Headquartered in Manama.
CMF is a unique multi-national naval coalition, dedicated to promoting security and prosperity across 2.5 million square miles of international waters in the Middle East. CMF’s main focus areas are defeating terrorism, preventing piracy, reducing illegal activities, and promoting a safe maritime environment.
“Prime Abe assured the Vice Admiral Miller to look into the request of the deployment of C39 planes,” Prime Minister Abe’s Press Secretary Kuni Sato told the media at the conclusion of the two-day visit to Bahrain.
