The police in capital city of Manama Bahrain has launched a massive manhunt to arrest the robbers who busted the well-guarded and the Kingdom’s largest shopping mall Bahrain City Center on Wednesday evening.
According to unconfirmed reports the intruders who apparently stole over 80 watches worth hundreds of thousands of Bahraini Dinars.
During the incident one security guard received minor injuries who was unarmed and raised the alarm over unusual movement of armed gang within the premises of the mall.
In the meanwhile, the Management of Bahrain City Centre has confirmed the robbery incident at the Rolex Store after the closing hours on Wednesday.
“We can confirm that the Rolex store at Bahrain City Centre was robbed after mall closing hours yesterday. Unfortunately, a security guard was injured and treated for minor injuries immediately. Bahrain City Centre is open. Mall security has been heightened to ensure the safety and security of all patrons. Any inquiries about the on-going investigation should be directed to the Police,” the statement attributed to Bahrain City Centre Management, said.
The robbery incident, may be first of its kind in many years, have sent a shock among the businesses and many of whom are thinking to hire private guards to make sure the safety of the their staff, customers and above all ensuring the safety of millions of dollars worth of gold, jewllery, diamonds and watches being displayed in the mall.
Sources say that it will be a matter of time when the police will be able to track down the culprits as the close circuit camera at the Bahrain City Centre will be of great help in identifying the culprits quickly.
It is worth mentioning the Majid Al Futtaim, who owns and operate the Bahrain City Centre, have announced a month of celebrations marking the 5th anniversary of Bahrain City Centre and on Thursday last the Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr Hassan Abdullah Fakhro was a chief guest during the official cake cutting ceremony.
