The Bahrain Cabinet on Sunday welcomed the approval of the Arab States League of Bahrain’s application to host the headquarters of Arab Human Rights Court, which came in response to the initiative of HM the King in the Arab States League Ministerial Meeting in its 140th session recently held in Cairo.
The Cabinet emphasized that this decision coming from the Arab States League reaffirmed the attention Bahrain has been giving to Human Rights and basic freedoms, and reflects the recognition of Bahrain’s achievements in this field by the Arab countries.
The Cabinet confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain protects freedoms and rights in accordance with the Constitution and the Law without restrictions; and noted that the door is always open for civil society organizations who respect the constitution and law to carry out their activities without exclusion or any obstacles, as long as they are not used to provide a cover for violence and its perpetrators, support terrorists or hinder democratic political development.
During the Cabinet’s review of tourism and cultural activities and promotional events, the need to maintain Bahrain’s civil and open-minded nature was stressed. Bahrain is known for its multicultural society and easy going lifestyle, and such cultural and tourist programs help create an open atmosphere for all, whether they are visitors, residents, tourists or investors.
The Cabinet then congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the government and her people, on the occasion of their National Day. The Cabinet praised the great strides made by Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, including significant civil and developmental achievements, which have an important impact regionally and internationally, in addition to Saudi Arabia’s accomplishments in supporting Arab and Muslim issues. The Cabinet wished the Kingdom and its leadership further prosperity and development.
In response to a memorandum submitted by the Minister of State for Follow Up, the Cabinet reviewed the executive procedures and mechanisms set to prepare the national indicators and reports that reflect the competitive nature of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the national economic level, quality of life, education, knowledge economics, and sustainability of resources, as well as all the means to collect and analyze the information and data necessary to generate the indicators,
In response to a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Social Development, the Cabinet referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs the project of the executive list specialized in executing Decree 21 (2013) regarding the collection of money for public matters.
In response to a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Justice, the Cabinet followed up on the preparations by specialized entities for the Haj season for the year 1434, and took note of the procedures taken by the Supreme Committee for Haj and Umra Affairs in coordination with the specialized authorities in Saudi Arabia for Bahrainis making pilgrimage this season.
The Cabinet discussed several issues brought forward by the House of Representatives and
approved the suggestion to build a hall for special occasions serving the needs of residents of Hamad Town; the Cabinet approved the suggestion to build a secondary school for boys in Al Hidd; the Cabinet approved the suggestion for the government to support local products and purchase through the local markets and the Cabinet discussed two suggestions and made the appropriate decisions with regard to establishing a pedestrian bridge in Um Al Hassam and a housing project in Al Burhama.
The Cabinet took note of the following Ministerial reports: (1) the report submitted by the Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Bahraini commercial delegation’s visit to the People’s Republic of China, September 14th – 17th; and (2) the report submitted by the Minister of Municipalities and Urban Planning with the results of the 17th GCC Ministerial Meeting for Municipal Affairs recently held in Bahrain.
