Foreign Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, led his GCC counterparts in a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Ministers reviewed strong GCC-Japanese relations and means of bolstering joint cooperation, in light of the GCC openness on the Asian experiences, stressing the positive impact on bilateral partnerships as well as the huge investment opportunities for the two sides to diversify their economies.
The two sides stressed the importance of activating bilateral strategic dialogue and resuming trade negotiations with the view of sealing a free trade agreement which would give further impetus to the economic and commercial relations.
The GCC and Japanese foreign ministers reviewed regional and international developments as well as tensions in the Middle East.
