Bapco organised the closing ceremony of its 2nd Annual Art Competition under the patronage of Bapco’s Chairman and Acting Chief Executive, Adel Khalil Al Moayyed on Thursday.
The event was held at Bapco Club, Awali, in the presence of a number of senior officials and key personalities, in addition to members of Bapco’s Management, a number of guests, participants and press delegates. This year’s competition was held under the theme of ‘Investing in Our Environment”, at the Kingdom’s level.
Al Moayyed said this event is part of Bapco’s continued efforts in fostering its role as a key contributor to community welfare and an active supporter of art activities and artists in the Kingdom.
“We are proud of Bapco’s various initiatives which aim at fostering the progress and prosperity of current and future generations,” he said.
The names of winners were announced during the event; Nouf Ahmed Alrifaea won the first prize of BD1500, Adel Al-Abbasi won the second prize of BD1000, and Adel Salem Al Thawadi won the third prize of BD500. A number of participants were also recognised in appreciation of their enthusiastic efforts. The winning artworks were selected by a judging panel, which was composed of Deputy Chief Executive (Refining and Marketing) Ebrahim Talib, General Manager – Human Resources and Administration Ghassan Al Muhanna, and General Manager – Marketing Khalid Al Sabbagh, in addition to a number of Bapco employees.
Selection of winners was based on a number of factors and criteria including relevance to the theme of the competition, quality and innovation.
“Bapco’s Annual Art Competition was first held last year and was received with wide acceptance and active participation from a large number of artists, who presented many paintings with high standards which contributed to enriching the competition and achieving its success, and supporting the art movement of the Kingdom of Bahrain,” Al-Moayyed, added.
