Friday rally unlawful, without approval: Bahrain Police Chief

The Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan announced that the Friday rally called for by a group of political societies and to take place from Daih to Bilad Al Qadeem was not endorsed by the Ministry of Interior. He stated that legal procedures will be taken against those who participate.

He said that the rally, if held, would hinder the interests of the people of Bahrain and risk civil peace. The Ministry does not endorse events that will have a negative impact on the peoples’ safety and security.

The Chief added that policemen throughout the country are carrying out their duties in accordance with all international laws and best practices and will continue to maintain the security and stability of the nation.
