Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman held talks with Alexey BORODAVKIN, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
Dr. Salah is leading Bahrain’s to the preparatory meetings ahead of the 24th periodic session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and the issues featuring on the agenda of the 24th (UNHRC) session in Geneva, Switzerland.
The minister updated the Russian diplomat on the (UNHRC) recommendations which have been implemented so far, adding that Bahrain would submit a voluntary progress report to the UNHRC next year for review.
He pointed out that the Kingdom Bahrain had endorsed 145 (UNHRC) recommendations and approved 13 others partially out of a total 176 recommendations.
He also briefed the Russian official on the recommendations set by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), affirmed the Government’s resolve to implement them.
Dr. Salah outlined the legislations passed by the National Assembly amid popular exasperation with the escalation of violence and the alarming changing terror tactics which wreak havoc on public properties and endanger citizens and residents.
He also cited the promulgation of the royal decree establishing the High Commission for the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees.
BORODAVKIN stressed solid relations bonding Bahrain and Russia and affirmed his country’s support for the national consensus dialogue, condemning all forms of violence and terror, whatever their sources may be.
