Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that it was important that bilateral relations between the two countries are built on mutual respect for the sovereignty of each other and adhering to the principle of good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.
He added that he was, looking forward to see the election of President Hassan Rouhani contribute to opening a new chapter between the two countries for their mutual benefit.
The Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s respect for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the importance of its stability which leads to the stability of the region.
He also praised the national dialogue in Bahrain, hoping it reaches consensus and contributes to the advancement of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the welfare of its people.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and the most important topics on the agenda of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
