Dar Al-Maal Al-Islami (DMI) Trust, Ithmaar Bank’s largest shareholder hosted a reception for members of the Group’s senior management at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain to honour Mohammed Bucheerei who retired earlier this month.
Bucheerei, who concluded a more than forty-three year international banking career when he retired on 31 August 2013, was the DMI Chief Operating Officer, as well as the Ithmaar Bank Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Bank’s Board of Directors.
Senior members of the management teams of DMI, as well as its subsidiaries and associates from around the world, including Ithmaar Bank in Bahrain, attended the reception.
DMI Group Chief Executive, Khalid Abdulla-Janahi, thanked Bucheerei for his contributions to the Group’s success and wished him a pleasant retirement.
“Mohammed has played many key roles in many of the Group’s subsidiaries and associates around the world over the past 22 years,” Janahi, said.
“Throughout his career at the Group, he has demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication, often sacrificing his personal time and that of his family, for his many work responsibilities. His selfless sacrifice and unwavering focus have contributed both to his professional success and to that of the Group,” he said.
“On behalf of the DMI Board of Supervisors, led by the Chairman, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Al Faisal Al Saud, and the DMI Executive Management Team, as well as those of our subsidiaries and associates around the world – many of whom had the privilege of working closely with Mohammed over the years – I thank him, and his family, for his contributions,” Janahi, said. “I wish him, and his family, all the very best in his well-earned retirement,” he said.
“The fact that so many senior executives from across the Group took the time to fly to Bahrain specifically to help honour Mohammed is testimony to the key role he has played within the group over the years,” Janahi, said. “It is also testimony to the significance of his many contributions, as well as to the tremendous efforts he invested, in his many roles within the group,” he said.
Bucheerei thanked HRH Prince Mohamed and Janahi, as well as all the invited guests, and said he already misses his banking career but is looking forward to spending time with his family.
“It was a privilege and an honour to serve the Group, as well as its subsidiaries and associates around the world, for so many years while working under the direction of HRH Prince Mohamed and Khalid,” Bucheerei, said. “In particular, leading Ithmaar Bank’s transformation into an Islamic retail bank has been, in many ways, the highlight of my career,” he said.
“After more than 40 years of international banking, however, it really is time for me to focus on my family and personal hobbies,” said Bucheerei. “I wish everyone across the Group and, in particular, at Ithmaar Bank, continued success,” he said.
