The Pakistan and the Nepal Clubs in Bahrain hosted a reception making the World Peace Day on Saturday evening at the main auditorium of Pakistan Club in Manama.
The highlights of the evening included a candle lighting and cake cutting ceremonies with Head of Chancery at Pakistan Embassy Aurang Zeb as chief guest. The cake cutting ceremony which was attended by over 100 guests from various countries was addressed by HOC Pakistan Aurang Zeb.
“Let us make every day World Peace Day and celebrate world peace! Let us come together and pledge to end the terror that has spread across the world. In my opinion, peace is very rare nowadays; everywhere, in some country or the other, there are wars, terror attacks and tensions among people and communities. We need to work hard to achieve long-lasting peace through dialogue and not with the roars of the canons,” he added.
“To be honest, I did not remember that the World Peace Day is on September 21, though I do remember the days when riots and other disasters happened across the world. That throws light on the relevance of the day. I wonder why we need a day to celebrate the world peace,” Pakistan Club chairman Zahid Sheikh said.
