In celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day 2013 under the theme “Women and Media”, the Youth Department at the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women will hold a Media Press Conference at the SCW Headquarters this Tuesday morning to announce the details of the Youth Forum: Women & Social Media. The SCW has extended an invitation to journalists and media personnel to cover this Press Conference, highlighting the value of social media and methods of supporting women’s issues from the youth’s perspective.
The Head of the Youth Department at the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women and the Head of the Organizing Committee, Mazin Anwar, will unveil the idea of the forum, its objectives and themes that will be addressed by the speakers and participants and the contributing organizations at the Press Conference. The logo of the Forum will also be revealed, which has been designed in line with the SCW’s specializations and duties.
The Forum will present several issues, most notably the success stories and models of women in the field of Social Media and the use of Social Media to support voluntary work and the main foundation for investment in this field to be reflected positively on society.
The SCW’s Youth Department was presented with the task of implementing this event as it falls under their mandate. The volunteering Youth Committee of the SCW was established in 2003 as per the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women in order to develop opportunities for young people of both genders and in preparation for them to become leaders in the field of women related work.
Previously, the SCW has launched a number of events in celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day 2013 such as the Media Rally and Media Workshops. The SCW is celebrating for the 6th consecutive year the Bahraini Women’s Day which was first celebrated in 2008 under the theme “Women and Education” followed in later years by themes including Health, Voluntary Work, Economics and Sports.
