His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has asserted that the purpose of authorised rallies that turn into terrorism cannot be peaceful.
He said that despite its commitment to ensuring the freedom of expression guaranteed to the citizens by the Constitution, the government should put an end to those rallies that violate the others’ freedoms and rights through spreading chaos and violence.
He emphasised that those rallies and marches lose the basics of legal legitimacy when the same violations recur, which, he said, is enough reason to reconsider their timings and places.
HRH Premier voiced the stances as he chaired a high-level work meeting in which he reviewed the progress of the implementation of the civil and security recommendations of the National Assembly on toughening the penalties inflicted on terrorism and protecting the community from it.
HRH Premier issued instructions to take the necessary procedures to implement the recommendations submitted by the National Assembly the ground, without delay, in line with the government’s desire to assume its responsibilities of safeguarding the citizens’ security and interests and protecting their property and freedoms.
The meeting reviewed the terrorism-financing channels, and instructed the Central Bank of Bahrain to take the necessary measures, in coordination with the relevant sides, in order to apply the financial control mechanisms on raising funds by associations and individuals.
HRH Premier was also briefed on the measures taken by the security bodies to confront acts of violence and terrorism, in accordance with law, in order to protect society from them.
