Bahrain has become the first country in the region to get Marks & Spencer’s new look stores, according to an official at the owning company.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain has been very important market for Marks and Spenser since the opening of the first store in 1998,” John Cooper, Managing Director at Marks & Spencer Al-Futtaim, on the sidelines of the opening of Seef Mall store, said.
Marks & Spenser had opened the first new concept store in May at Bahrain City Centre and the Seef Mall is second store, offering the full range of products under one roof.
“We have invested millions of dollars in these new concept stores in Bahrain and we will continue to invest in future as well,” Cooper, said, adding that the stores have been doing good business in Bahrain over the past many years.
Cooper, who was joined by Bilal Al Zer, Regional Manager GCC, said that Bahrain business has been growing at good rate and with the introduction of these two new concept stores, the sales would be even better in the coming days and months.
Al Zer didn’t disclose any figure but he said that business was expected to post a double digit growth in 2013.
Mark Senior, Head of Operations at Al-Futtaim Sons, after the opening of the store confirmed that under the new concept the entire store at Seef Mall has been rebuilt from the scratch.
“From the flooring to finish, colour schemes, spread of products and displays everything is new and the customers will experience this new concept while shopping at both of our stores in Bahrain,” he added.
Marks & Spencer, the iconic leading British retailer today re-opened its much awaited 21,000 square feet refurbished store in Seef Mall, to debut brand new interiors and the latest autumn 2013 collection. The store is converted into a spacious space to coincide with Marks & Spencer’s new concept store drive. Following a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony led by the Managing Director, John Cooper and Store Manager, Muneera Ebrahim, the new Marks & Spencer store welcomed enthusiastic shoppers and media to experience pleasant interiors and extensive product offering. Contemporary design, trendy windows, extensive product display, clear signage, fashionable colours and are the key features that turn this M&S store into an international shopping ‘experience’.
