The forthcoming Session of the National Consensus Dialogue will be held on October – after the hajj and Eid Al-Adha.
Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi described today’s consultative session as being positive and fruitful, adding that the door would remain open for the five associations to rejoin the table of talks.
He was speaking in the aftermath of the national dialogue session, which was held on Wednesday evening at the Isa Cultural Centre. He revealed that key points were added during the session which centred of principles, constants and values.
The new items affirmed Bahrain’s Arab-Islamic identity and sovereignty, stressing the importance of principles and fundamentals for generations to come. The new items also refer to Bahrain as an “independent and sovereign Arab and Islamic Kingdom”.
The people of Bahrain are also defined as an integral part of the Arab nation and the GCC, with inalienable sovereignty. A new item has also been added citing Islam as the official state religion and affirming Islamic Sharia as the main source of legislation. It also endorsed Arabic as the official language of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The session also confirmed an item which confirms respect of the Royal regional, the hereditary rule and the bicameral system.
