As part of the ongoing co-operation between GPIC and regional and international organizations specialized in oil related industries, delegates taking part in the Arab Fertilizer Association’s workshop entitled Ammonia Tanks Integrity Management and Inspection Challenges visited GPIC Complex to familiarize themselves with the Company’s operations, plants and quality products.
The visiting guests were welcomed by Yasser A. Rahim, Plants Operation Manager who conveyed to them the best wishes of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Advisor to HRH the Prime Minister for Industrial and Oil Affairs and GPIC Chairman and Abdulrahman Jawahery, GPIC President.
During the meeting attended by members of the executive management, GPIC Trade Union members and a number of senior officials, the delegates were briefed about the Company’s operations and quality petrochemical products that are marketed on the major global markets. The discussions dealt with a review of the nature of operations and advanced export mechanisms coupled with full compliance with international standards of health, safety and the environment. The talks covered the Company’s plans and programmes related to sustainability and corporate social responsibility which enabled the Company win numerous prestigious international awards.
The visiting guests were briefed about the Company’s vision and management systems that lay emphasis on the environmental aspects and initiatives designed to protect and preserve the environment.
The visiting group made a tour of the Company’s plants and environmental projects within the Complex that demonstrated the beautiful harmony between industry and the environment. They started the tour by visiting the Princess Aromatic Garden and the Medical Herbs Garden set up by the Company to preserve the rare medical herbs that were used in the past for medical purposes. They familiarized themselves with the Charity Fish Farm that showed the Company’s concern with marine wealth.
The delegates also visited GPIC club and were briefed on the various activities and programmes that the club’s presents to its members. At the end of their tour, the visiting delegates expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Company for the warm welcome and expressed their admiration of the sophisticated facilities and charitable and environmental projects.
GPIC sponsored the AFA workshop entitled Ammonia Tanks Integrity Management & Inspection Challenges during the period from 29 to 31st October, 2013 with the participation of several leading Gulf, Arab and international fertilizer companies in addition to numerous professionals concerned with the manufacture of fertilizers.
The workshop was a good opportunity for discussing a number of key topics and working papers related to issues that concern this vital industry through a review of the experience of PP SIMITECH Ltd of the UK which is involved in testing operations of ammonia tanks round the world.
