The Kingdom of Bahrain’s election to the two UNESCO councils will enable it to build national capacities, acquire expertise and benefit from their programmes and projects, as well as enhance its role in boosting UNESCO’s efforts.
Education Minister, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, has extended sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and his Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for their constant support for the Ministry of Education, which has enabled it to achieve landmark accomplishments during the 37th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), held at its headquarters.
Dr. Al Nuaimi, who is also the Chairman of the Bahrain National Commission for UNESCO, said that Bahrain, which had held many key positions at UNESCO’s various agencies, was elected as member of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme and the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC).
The Minister pointed out that Bahrain’s membership of the two UNESCO councils reflects the distinguished position it enjoys, leading UNESCO role and the good reputation it has earned thanks to the sound policies of the wise leadership.
