His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa was the guest of honour of the annual meeting of the Bahrain-British friendship society The Bahrain Society, in London.
The meeting was attended by a number of UK ministers and Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, Alice Samaan, ambassador to the UK, Lord Howells, Brigadier Peter, guests from the SandHurst military college, in addition to members from the Labour and Conservative parties, GCC ambassadors, and many distinguished personalities.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of HM The King, HRH the Prime Minister, and HRH the Crown Prince to those present.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed his appreciation of the role the society plays in strengthening the ties between the peoples of Bahrain and Great Britain, since its inception 42 years ago. HH highlighted the historical relations that goes back to 1820’s and expressed the wish to continue these good relations.
HH highlighted his role in achieving HM the King’s vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the plans to develop and equip the youth of Bahrain to assume their role in the building and development of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HH discussed the leading role of the Royal Charity Organisation in supporting the orphans, widows, and the needy in Bahrain, and its expanded role in providing relief and aid, wherever possible, to disaster-stricken countries world-wide.
HH highlighted his vision in developing the youth and provide them the opportunities to have the honour of participating in the building of their country.
HH wished The Bahrain Society all the success in their noble activities.
The meeting also featured a speech by Brigadier Peter Sincock, President of the society, in which he expressed his sincere appreciation and greetings to His Majesty King Hamad and the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain for their great role in boosting ties between Bahrain and Great Britain throughout the past decades, stressing the importance of the relations between the two nations.
Brigadier Sincock reviewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements as well development, growth and prosperity in all fields, stressing the importance of the Bahrain British Friendship Society and its leading role in the development of relations between both countries.
He noted the importance of the remarkable reputation of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its leading role in developing relations with various countries around the world.
Brigadier Sincock stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain have recently been a victim of destabilization its security, safety and stability, calling for Iran not to interfere in the internal affairs of Bahrain for the continuation of the reform project of His Majesty the King, stressing the need of cooperation of everyone for the unity of the Bahraini community.
Lord Howells delivered a speech in which he touched on the excellent relations between Bahrain and Great Britain over the past decades and the developments that have occurred in this regard.
Lord Howells praised the reformist steps of His Majesty King Hamad and his keenness to support and sustain the aspirations of the Bahraini people in the reform process launched by His Majesty.
He stressed the importance of the Bahraini – British relations and means of its development in all fields.
At the end of the ceremony HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa presented two commemorative gifts to Brigadier Peter Sincock and to Lord Howells.
