Social Development Minister and Family Bank Chairperson Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi led Bahrain delegation to the Global Social Business Summit, which held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The three-day international ceremony brought together five hundred and fifty people from all countries in the world.
The annual Global Social Business Summit is organized by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and his Creative Advisor Hans Reitz.
Dr. Al-Balooshi was invited to take part in one plenary session in recognition of Bahrain’s efforts to anchor the concepts of social business and development partnerships.
Bahrain has pioneered key initiatives, particularly the Family bank, the first social bank of its kind to provide micro Islamic funding for low-income families, women, youngsters and jobseekers.
The Family Bank has also organized the Social Business Week for the second consecutive year.
The delegation featured officials representing the Social Development Ministry, the Family Bank, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tamkeen and Bahrain Development Bank.
