KUWAIT: The establishment to GCC Union from a Council status is a well thought of plan which will help stability, prosperity and well being of the people and the GCC bloc.
Bahrain’s House Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani in his speech during the 7th meeting of Chairmen of Shura Councils and Houses of Representatives of the GCC stressed world and regional developments have proved that the adoption of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to move from the stage of cooperation to the stage of union was based on acute analysis and sharp insight into reality.
The model of GCC Union was in anticipating the future, where there are a lot of developments and changes in international stances on the Middle East and Arabian Gulf region that require us vigilance and caution in taking our responsibilities for our nation and joint destiny.
His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, patronized in Kuwait the 7th meeting of Chairmen of Shura Councils and Houses of Representatives of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
The ceremony included speeches of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s House Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani, Chairman of the Arab Parliament Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani and Kuwait’s National Assembly Chairman Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim.
He underscored the support of their Majesties and Highnesses the GCC leaders for the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which demonstrates their eagerness and determination to achieve the Gulf union, which is the ultimate goal of the GCC march, as expressed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa when he said that Gulf union fosters communication between Gulf people and protects our homelands.
He said that Gulf union and people’s cohesion is the only way to confront challenges facing the region and threatening our nation, stability and national achievements and gains that have been achieved throughout decades of hard work to improve our economic, social and political status.
He added this Gulf parliamentary meeting complements the successful efforts began in 2007 and shows the willingness of the GCC heads of legislative councils to support the GCC joint action in all its forms in order to reach the set goals.
Al-Dhahrani conveyed delight and pride of the members of the councils in the attendance of HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, the meeting, and spoke highly of the support of their Majesties and Highnesses the GCC leaders delivered for these councils that assist them in achieve the desired goals.
The Bahrain’s delegation that is being led by Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani the House Speaker and Chairman of the Parliamentary Delegation’s Executive Committee includes MP Khamis Al-Rumaihi, MP Ahmad Al-Saati, MP Abdullah Huwail, MP Isa Al-Kadhi, Shura member Abdulrahman Jamsheer, MP Hamad Al-Nuaimi, MP Ali Al-Asfoor, House of Representatives’ Acting Secretary-General Jamaal Zuaid, House of Representatives’ Head Advisors Committee Dr. Saleh Ibrahim, in addition to Advisor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Kuwait Ibtisam Al-Ruwaie.
Kuwait’s National Assembly Chairman Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim hailed the paper presented by Bahrain’s delegation, describing it as a scientific, professional and value-added paper.
