Central Governorate’s Public Prosecutor, Nawaf Abdulaziz Al-Awadhi, said that the Public Prosecutor had received a notification from the Isa Town police station, in which a mother of an infant baby girl filed a complaint against the administrators of a kindergarten in Isa Town.
The incident took place when the mother of the infant baby girl, who is under one year of age, went to the kindergarten at 2:30 in the afternoon to collect her baby girl from there, but the kindergarten gate was closed and locked, as a result of concern, she called the only phone number in her possession of the kindergarten, which apparently belongs to the kindergarten security man, who attended to the kindergarten and went inside and brought out her baby girl.
It appeared that all the employees had left the building and the air-conditioning units and lights were switched off, which endangered the infant’s life.
The Public Prosecution, once received the notification, summoned the complainant, the kindergarten principal, the nanny in charge and the security man for questioning.
The Kindergarten principal said that the nanny had neglected searching the kindergarten building for any uncollected kids by their families before leaving the kindergarten.
The nanny admitted what happened was the result of an inadvertent error of her.
The security man said that his duty is to search the kindergarten building after the departure of everyone to ensure that the building is empty of people.
The Public Prosecutor charged the security man and the nanny with endangering the child’s life, for it is their responsibility to take care of the kids.
The Medical examination that was conducted on the baby girl proved that she was free of any abnormal symptoms.
The Public Prosecutors ordered the imprisonment of the nanny and the security man on pending investigation prior to referring them to the Urgent Matter Court for trial on 18 Nov 2013.
