Bahrain’s skyline was turned into a blaze of colour as the world-famous Red Arrows put on a dazzling acrobatic aerial display on Sunday, according to a report published by BNA.
The performance, which took place above the Seef waterfront under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, Chairman of the Supreme Environment Council and President of the Supreme Information and Telecommunication Authority Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, was part of festivities marking the bicentenary of the Bahrain-British Friendship Society.
The show was attended by State Minister for Defence Affairs Lt. General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Transportation Minister and Acting Chief Executive of Bahrain Economic Development Board Kamal bin Ahmed, Kuwait Ambassador to Bahrain Shaikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah, British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay and senior officials.
The expert flyers of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (Red Arrows) showcased an adrenaline-pumping manoeuvre thrilling thousands of people with their distinctive red jets’ performance of a series of precision formations and dynamic loops and rolls.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed happiness about attending the breath-taking aerial display, thanking the team and the officials in charge for their efforts to ensure its success. He also underscored strong relations of friendship and cooperation between Bahrain and the UK.
The Transportation Minister thanked Shaikh Abdullah for patronising the event which, he said, was in preparation for other shows that will be held in Bahrain during Bahrain International Air Show from January 16 to 18, 2014.
Eastern Arrow Squadron Leader Jim Turner expressed delight at performing in Bahrain again after their visit to the kingdom in 2006.
The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team was formed in 1965 and is renowned throughout the world as ambassadors for the Royal Air Force and the UK. Their visit to Bahrain is part of a Middle East tour.
Alongside the pilots, there are more than 100 support staff in the Red Arrows, including operations staff and flight planners, engineering technicians, photographers, safety equipment experts, drivers, a public relations department, suppliers and administrators.
