The Chairman of the Shura Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, reiterated commitment to activation of the Bahraini-Chinese Friendship Society, Bahrain’s emphatic support to China, aspiring to creation of a joint parliamentary committee and expressed the Bahrain’s desire to present outlines for bilateral relations towards attaining maximum degrees of cooperation.
This came during the Shura Council delegation’s meeting with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Political Advisory Congress Ban Yan He and several committee members who stressed the need to forming a parliamentary friendship society between the two countries to push bilateral relations towards vaster horizons.
The meeting was attended by Shura Council delegation members: Jameela Ali Salman, Dr. Ayesha Salim Mubarak, Ahmed Ibrahim Behzad, and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Charge d’Affaires in the Chinese People’s Republic, Moussa Al-Nuaimi.
The Chairman of the Chinese Foreign Affairs Committee in the Political Advisory Congress praised bilateral relations between the two countries and their persistence in the face of international transformations, stressing the importance of pushing these relations to boost mutual cooperation especially in the economic field and increasing the volume of bilateral trade, technologies and industry.
Ban He reiterated China’s understanding the importance of Bahrain’s stability and unity, pointing out that China has experienced similar foreign interferences like the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also stated his country’s support to the Kingdom’s reform policy which is the only surety.
Shaikh Khalid praised China’s political role and support to peace and rejection of violence and wars, citing China’s refrainment from waging any war since it has assumed permanent membership in the UN Security Council and this boost China’s support to world peace and support to the culture of dialogue in general, especially the Chinese support to the Kingdom of Bahrain in the face of foreign interferences. Bahrain has proven its capacity to solve its internal problems through the culture of constant dialogue and through its formation of the Bahrain International Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
The Deputy Chairperson of the delegation cum Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security in the Shura Council, Jameela Ali Salman, expressed her gratitude and appreciation towards the Chinese stance in supporting Bahrain and its stability, pointing out that the crisis underwent by Bahrain recently has proven the level of solid friendship between the two countries which is also expressive of the level of development of the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries. She also hoped that this visit would accomplish the activation of the Joint Friendship Committee in order to open bigger doors for cooperation in various fields. She also cited the outcomes of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry whose formation was ordered by His Majesty the King and the ongoing implementation of its recommendations. She also stressed the importance of communicating and contacts between the legislative authorities in both countries.
Dr. Ayesha Salim Mubarak member of the delegation and Chairperson of the Shura Council’s Committee on Human Rights pointed out the similarity of hostile media campaign which targeted China and the Kingdom of Bahrain from some organizations and countries which only fake interest in human rights issues but come only in order to accomplish certain political purposes. She stressed the importance of portraying the efforts exerted by Bahrain in developing human rights and the accomplishments of Bahrain in all fields, including human rights and its institutions formed commensurate with international standards.
Delegation member Ahmed Ibrahim Behzad praised the solid level of bilateral relations between the two countries, stressed the importance of pushing forwards in economic terms to bigger and stronger phases, wishing from the Chairman and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Chinese Advisory Congress to boost business relations with Chinese businessmen and investors, assuring of Bahrain’s policy of open investment, consider its commercial and banking position in the midst of Arabian Gulf and its achievement of high economic growth which makes Bahrain a fertile land to attract Chinese investments and its successful economic experience.
