His Highness, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) will honor the winners of the Arab eContent Award 2013 and Bahrain eContent Award for the third successive time, on Tuesday at a ceremony at the Diplomat Hotel.
The prestigious event is organized by Bahrain Internet Society (BIS), in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority (eGA) and World Summit Award (WSA). The products were subject to an evaluation carried-out by a jury, composed of senior academicians and experts in the area of website development and multimedia from Bahrain and overseas, supervised by the WSA Board of Directors who is in charge of selecting the contributions and monitoring all of the evaluation process.
The jury’s mission is to evaluate nominated products in accordance with international standards set in this industry- as adopted in the international edition of the award. Winners of the Arab eContent Award will be nominated to participate in the WSA competition.
The Arab eContent Award was launched with a Bahraini initiative in 2005. The Arab awards ceremony was held in the Kingdom since 2009 to honor the eProjects and the best websites in the Arab world, fitting under the umbrella of WSA as part of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) of the United Nations.
The award is divided into eight categories, with a core focus on promoting creativity in the Arab eContent industry and strengthening cooperation frameworks on the Arab level.
The Bahrain eContent Award comes as an integrated part of WSA, launched in 2009, and it is divided into nine categories. The award aims to select the best achievers of excellent local products in content building in the ICT field.
