The GCC Secretary General, Abdullatif Al Zayani, said that GCC as a bloc needs to achieve a collective security and stability according to the aspirations of the all member states including the brotherly State of Oman.
Al Zayani while responding to Omani Foreign Minister’s statement on GCC Union, stressed on the need of trust and confidence building and more communication on all issues confronting the bloc.
Al Zayani was addressing the IISS Manama Dialogue 2013 being held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Spa and said all member states have the right to maintain its position on any issue.
“The level of frankness and respect to the ideas of all member states can be seen from an open minded statement by the Omani Foreign Minister at this platform. GCC will continue to be open and objective in its approach by reaching on common grounds including the proposed GCC Union,” Al Zayani told the audience of the IISS Manama Dialogue.
Al Zayani also stressed the need of transparency and raised the UAE Islands issues being occupied by Iran and said such issues should be given a priority to address by the GCC as a bloc.
However, the GCC Chief, while referring to the new regime in Iran said it was showing a right attitude, perhaps referring to the recent deal with Iran.
