His Royal Highness, Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, affirmed that activating partnership among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries under the umbrella of the Gulf union will achieve common interests.
He said that the Gulf Union is a dream shared by GCC citizens, noting that accelerating procedures to upgrade GCC relations from cooperation to union will meet the aspirations of GCC governments and peoples.
The GCC Summit convenes anew amid highly-sophisticated regional, Arab and global conditions and developments, noting that the activation of the Gulf Union will enable the countries of the GCC, belonging to an already influential economic bloc, to become stronger, serve their peoples better and maintain their development progress, Prince Khalifa said as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace scholars, businessmen, press and media persons and scores of citizens, in line with his keen interest to meet citizens directly in order to be informed about their needs and review with them national issues.
HRH the Premier said that GCC countries which boast economic and political strength that make them effective in shaping the international decision-making process, can become more influential and more fortified against the major security, economic and political challenges facing them if they establish the Gulf union, called for by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
“GCC peoples are waiting eagerly for the results of the GCC Summit, to be hosted by sisterly Kuwait, and everyone is confident that GCC leaders’ desire to achieve the common interests is no less than that of their peoples,” he said.
He emphasised that the Gulf union will bring about massive benefits for GCC countries and peoples, and, therefore, all obstacles should be overcome in order to achieve it.
