The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) elections which are set to take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre on February 15th 2014 will go ahead as announced, according to Chairman of the BCCI Election Committee.
Adel Hussain Maskati, Chairman of the BCCI Election Committee 2014 while responding to the concerned raised by some members during a meeting on Thursday said that there was no specific security threat and polls would go ahead as announced.
Some members were asking if there would be delay in elections on February 15th in an anticipation of possible law and order situation on February 14th this year. “Security issue is a non-issue as business is as usual in Bahrain and it will remain calm Inshallah,” Al Maskati told reporters after the meeting held at the Baitual Tajjar.
The BCCI registered members and eligible voters will elect 18-member new board during the upcoming election
The Committee invited all the members of the BCCI to keep their data updated before the deadline of the January 28th to participate in the elections as eligible voters.
There are 5400 registered members and out them 4700 are eligible voters.
The meeting addressed by the Chairman and the members of the Election Committee had given a firsthand information to the BCCI members and candidates on the latest steps taken by the Committee to ensure fair, free and impartial election of the 28th term of the BCCI Board.
The Committee led by Adel Hussain Maskati will oversee the elections process of the Kingdom’s largest business platform for the business, trade and investors’ community.
The BCCI board of directors thanked the Chairman Dr Esam Fakhro for his efforts and help to ensure the upcoming election fair, free and impartial and in accordance with the Law of the Chamber.
The Election Committee will announce the course of the electoral process starting from the official announcement of the filing of the nomination papers and the requirements of candidacy.
