MANAMA: In line with the directives of the Interior Minister to take the necessary measures to follow-up on the abduction of a Bahraini student in Malaysia and speed up his liberation, a Bahraini security delegation is set to be sent to Malaysia for a close follow-up on the issue and to boost the efforts of the Malaysian security authorities to liberate the Bahraini student.
The student’s kidnappers demanded a ransom of 20000 ringgit (BD2600), the General Director of the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security revealed, adding that coordination was made with the Malaysian security bodies to get updated on the incident and measures were taken regarding it.
A team was set up to follow-up on the case, he asserted, pointing out that the Interior Ministry had provided the Malaysian authorities with information obtained from the student’s father to help find him.
He also affirmed continuous coordination with relevant parties, adding that the team will provide every needed support to the delegation heading to Malaysia to facilitate their mission.
The Interior Ministry is coordinating with relevant authorities at the Foreign Ministry to end the abduction as soon as possible, the General Director of the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security emphasised.
