Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) in a report on the National Centre for NGOs’ support for 2010-2012 that contained important details regarding the status of the NGOs, taking into consideration that the centre represents an outstanding Bahraini experience in the field of NGOs, development and activation of the spirit of community partnership and social responsibility among this growing sector and government and private sectors.
The report highlights the centre’s duties, goals and achievements over three years, from 2010 to 2012, and showed how the centre gained its distinctive identity in several areas.
The report also reviews parts of results from a comparative perspective with the past years for institutional assessment and analytical report of the performance of NGOs in the inventory of the excellence points in performance and also to reveal weaknesses or rather missed performance indicators.
The report contained an important and accurate definition of the centre’s goals considering it as an organistion in the ministry and supported by it.
Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development Projects was created to promote NGOs’ performance in the Kingdom.
The prize aims at serving different groups of the society, which will motivate and create a spirit of competition and creativity among organisations and encourage civil work.
The ‘Discover Bahrain’ programme will was launched Jan 24, the high organising committee announced, noting that it will host a reception in Muharraq in honour of 19 visitors to Bahrain from 12 countries around the world.
The committee invited media figures, activists and all lovers of Bahrain to interact with the programme in order to enable the world to discover the bright image of Bahrain through its diverse society, modern achievements and its desire for a more prosperous future.
Head of Logistics Committee Abdullah Murad said that the organising committee of ‘Discover Bahrain’ prepared a one-week programme for the visitors, including intensive visits to government and civil institutions to learn about Bahrain’s achievements, leadership and people in the fields of the economy, history and civilization, women and media, health and child health, religion and society, youth and culture.
He added that all transportation, accommodation, travel itinerary, and arrangements will all be taken care of.
Murad affirmed that the Committee’s 9 Volunteers, who have experience as they have participated in similar programmes previously, are ready to work throughout the week, day and night without rest.
Programme co-coordinator Ebrahim Akbari asserted that the committee had already coordinated with the sides to be visited.
Head of the International Relations Committee Salman Al Salman stated that the visitors included bloggers, filmmakers, columnists and others who are able to transfer positive impression about their visit to Bahrain to their surroundings and communities.
