Bapco has recently held a one-day Table Top and Boom Deployment Exercise for its employees along with oil spill response ltd OSRL, at the Oil Spill Command Centre in Awali.
Attended by senior officials of the company, the aim of the exercise was for Oil Spill team members to practise their roles and responsibilities as per the modified contingency plan of the company. The exercise also focused on communication channels, coordination between the Bapco Oil Spill Response team and the Bapco Oil Spill Response contractors, as well as roles and responsibilities of team members. Activities involved tactical planning and objectives to achieve, which were followed by boom deployment near the Low Lift Pump House area.
“Bapco is working in conjunction with OSRL to keep them aware of the situation and get their advice and assistance if necessary,” Bapco’s Deputy Chief Executive (Refining & Marketing) Chairman of Environment, Health & Safety Committee EHSC Ebrahim Talib, said.
“Bapco regularly conducts such exercises to enhance the company’s readiness to mitigate and combat oil spills and all other emergencies and crisis, and ensure that necessary communication channels with stakeholders are clear and effective,” he added.
