In response to the directives of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company and in order to encourage environmental initiatives, GPIC provided support to the exhibition and forum titled “Bahrain Green Technology in 2014,” organized by the Supreme Council for the Environment in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of H.M the King and Head of the General Authority for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife.
Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of GPIC, said that he was pleased the company was able to make a contribution to this forum, both in providing the required support and in positive participation in its activities. He offered sincere thanks and appreciation to H.H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his keenness in promoting the implementation of such important environmental events, ones that contribute greatly to the dissemination of the culture of the environment and raise awareness of the importance of conservation. In the same context, Jawahery praised all the efforts made by the General Authority for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife in the preservation of the environment in order to ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.
He also praised the objectives sought by this assembly, which comes on top of spreading environmental awareness, to be able to shift towards green technology and in turn contributing to maintaining the integrity of the environment. According to the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, he pointed out, there is a growing interest shown by GPIC in environmental issues. He further stressed the desire of the company to provide the support and sponsorship for various events held by the institutions of society to acknowledge the importance of the environment and the need to maintain it, noting in this regard the implementation of the company’s many environmental programmes, including research programmes, to be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
He also referred to the variety of environmental projects in the GPIC industrial complex, including gardens for flowers and fish farming and a sanctuary for migratory birds.
Adel Khalifa Al Zayani, Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for the Environment, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the generous support provided by the company, adding that GPIC is one of those who always pioneer to provide support for activities involving environmental care and describing the conference as an opportunity to confirm the success of environmental initiatives through joint development between the public and private sectors.
The exhibition and Bahrain Green Technology Forum will be held in 2014 during the period from 13 to 16 January, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, where it is expected to post a large number of international companies known in the industry and the development of environmentally friendly technologies and well-known green techniques, in addition to the participation of major companies leader in the region and the Kingdom of Bahrain, particularly GPIC itself.
