MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, acknowledged all forms of expression in which citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain have demonstrated to express their loyalty to their homeland and its leadership and shown their support for measures being taken relating to their stability, security, and future. HRH the premier stressed that the meaning of true patriotism is to defend and praise your homeland nationally and globally.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by HRH the Prime condemned the bombings that took place in the Republic of Egypt recently. The Cabinet expressed their condemnation of all forms of terrorism and their confidence in the ability of the Republic of Egypt to overcome this and achieve the aspirations of the Egyptian people. In this regard, the Cabinet congratulated Egypt over the results of referendum of the constitution which will pave the way to a new phase of stability and development.
The Cabinet approved the allocation of a considerable number of housing units to the category of divorcees, widows and unmarried women in housing projects.
The Cabinet followed up the efforts made to hire unemployed university graduates who are looking for jobs, and took note of the fact that 1199 out of the original 1912 unemployed Bahraini university graduates have been employed in both private and public sectors. His Royal Highness the Prime Minister directed the concerned bodies to continue to work on integrating the remaining 576 unemployed Bahraini university graduates in both the public and private sectors. In that regard, the Cabinet decided to continue this initiative (1912) until next December, and instructed the Civil Service Council to study the conditions of Bahraini university graduates who are employed in government agencies on temporary contracts and grant them permanent jobs that are commensurate with their specialties and allocated budget, as suggested by the Minister of Labour.
HRH the Prime Minister directed to implement more initiatives and projects that provide a decent standard of living for citizens and that is responsive to the needs of sustainable development and contributes to making the national economy dependent on the skill and productivity of Bahrainis. The Cabinet followed up the implementation of the government’s work program with regard to unemployment, employment, wage subsidies and the provision of social protection for workers and the unemployed. In this regard, the Cabinet noted the success of the government’s efforts to reduce the unemployment rate from 15% to 4 % during a short period of time that does not exceed seven years, despite the growing number of new job seekers who have entered the labour market for the first time. The Cabinet will carry on the implementation of government initiatives to recruit citizens including the recruitment project, which aims to recruit 10 thousand job seekers and a project to improve the wages of national workers.
The Cabinet approved a contract extension of 6 months with Bahrain Aviation Fueling Company (BAFCO).
The Cabinet discussed a draft law on personal data protection and decided to refer it to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further study.
The Cabinet approved the following six suggestions from the House of Representatives: (1) dealing with investments of the pension and social insurance fund’ (2) on the development of family counseling offices; (3) regarding the removal of old Communications towers located in Hidd; (4) on the opening of branches of the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence in different governorates; (5) to stop licensing massage salons; and (6) on the matter of housing divorcees, widows and unmarried women.
