MANAMA: General Director of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security called on Thursday upon the public to be cautious of phone call scams that include cheating them of winning large prizes that could be obtained by providing personal information, including credit card numbers. He urged not to provide personal information to unknown callers.
He said that the department has received fraud cases of people who received calls from persons speaking English informing them that they had won cash prizes from a telecommunication company and to get the prize the ID and credit card number should be provided to pay the fee of the prize (as they assume).
After that, the fraud persons get the money of the credit cards of their victims. He affirmed that search and investigation will continue to identify the suspects to bring them to justice.
