His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued yesterday Edict 77 of 2013, approving the salary and employment benefits scale and criteria for granting them for employees affiliated with the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), in line with his desire to increase benefits and bonuses that motivate public sector employees for the sake of upgrading government work, performance and productivity.
According to the Edict, extra benefits and bonuses, costing about BD 6 million annually, will be granted to civil service employees, which will enhance their satisfaction and improve the performance of the public sector establishments.
Under the new scale, about 15,000 married public sector female employees will have their social allowances raised, which will ensure equality between married male and female employees in this regard, activate the National Model for Integrating Women’s Needs in Development and provide care for women, being essential pillars of human development of which the kingdom is proud.
While keeping the existing allowances aiming to encourage public sector personnel to exert more efforts to improve the quality of services provided for the citizens, a new bonus of about BD1500 was created to reward employees with extraordinary achievements at the national level, such as making a successful project or taking part in emergency, crises or disaster works.
The telephone allowance was renamed as a “communication” one and its value was adjusted so to cope with the diversity of modern means of communication such as telephone, fax and Internet, and encourage government bodies to use technology in their work.
