MANAMA: The Advisor of HM the King for Media Affairs Nabeel bin Yaqoob Al Hamar praised the National Action Charter and described it as one of the milestones of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reform project, explaining that it was truly a “Bahraini spring”.
“The National Action Charter was the starting point of a comprehensive administrative and political reform on many levels, on the political side Bahraini citizens developed knowledge of the importance of political participation and the electoral right projected through the high turnout and unprecedented votes on the National Action Charter in 2001,” in a statement marking the 13th anniversary of the National Action Charter, Al Hamar, said.
He said that one of the most prominent achievements was the establishment of the Constitutional Court in September 14, 2002 that supervised the constitutionality of laws, regulations and provisions, and the establishment of the National Audit Office (NAO) which was a financial and administrative independent body to monitor public money.
He noted that the establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights, the Ombudsman, regulations governing the launch of political associations, among many others, contributed to the development of a democratic life in the Kingdom and encouraged the practice of political freedoms.
