MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s unemployment rate remained at just over four per cent, thanks to the Government’s efforts to enhance the scope of jobs for Bahrainis, according to a report.
The report was presented by the Minister of Labour Jameel Humaidan during a cabinet meeting on Sunday which disclosed the stability of the unemployment rate standing at 4.3% at the end of December of 2013 while the number of vacancies during the above quarter is 5387. Of this number, 22% are vacancies suited for the unemployed university graduates and 58% for unemployed high school graduates.
The Cabinet directed to continue efforts to provide more job opportunities to Bahrainis, directing its focus on the quality of the professions to ensure the preservation of unemployment in its low levels and evaluating the outcomes. In this context, the Cabinet noted a report submitted by the Minister of Labour that demonstrates the government’s success in recruiting 4888 citizens of Bahrain in the private sector during the fourth quarter of the year 2013 that is approximately 1629 Bahraini citizens per month.
