MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain has implemented zero tolerance to torture in any form as the transparent mechanism to oversee the governance doesn’t allow such practise.
Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, who on Tuesday at his office updated the media on human rights achievements said that Bahrain’s human rights has been elevated since the steps taken to elevate this record.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed many strides in the field of human rights, thanks to His Majesty King’s directives to ensure human rights of all,” the Minister said.
Dr Salah said the Kingdom has adopted an advanced approach through signing and ratifying a number of international conventions and amending its national laws so as to be in conformity with developed human rights legislations.
The Minister said that Bahrain was keen on consolidating cooperation and coordination with international and regional bodies through availing of its training and technical potentials to build capacities to advance human rights work.
He affirmed that human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain are guaranteed by the constitution.
He pointed out that Bahrain has established national institutions tasked with accountability and human rights assessment at all levels, citing, mainly, the Office of the Ombudsman at the Interior Ministry, the High Commission for the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees, the National Institution for Human Rights and the Human Rights Committees at the Representatives and Shura Councils.
