The Bahraini athletes were crowned overall champions, thus maintaining their last Asian title clinched in 2012 in China.
Shaikh Khalid described the accomplishment as the dividend of the leadership’s continuous follow-up and support to the youth and sport momentum in Bahrain. “It is also a logical result of the support accorded by Shaikh Nasser to the Bahraini sport, in general, and athletics, in particular,” he said.
He added that clinching first place in the Asian championship and beating most of the runners is an assertion of the advanced level of the Bahraini athletics which achieved honourable results recently.
“The new achievement will serve as an impetus for the Bahrain Athletics Association’s Board of Directors to bring about other accomplishments and boost Bahrain’s status on the world sport map.”
The Bahraini national team grabbed first place after winning 5 medals comprises two gold medals, one silver and two bronze.
