MANAMA: The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday that business largely progressed as normal throughout the day. In general, citizens went about their daily business and work was normal in government and private organizations.
The Ministry reports some cases of rioting and vandalism in villages where groups blocked roads with bricks, iron spikes, debris and oil. The police responded and restored order in accordance with the law. Twenty nine suspects were arrested and legal procedures were taken against them.
In an attempt to instill fear and terrorize the general public, violent protesters burned a civilian car and a school bus full of children came under attack from Molotov-throwing thugs. Police responded and restored order. There were also attempts to close schools in some villages to prevent students from going to class. The police responded and ensured that general order and security was maintained at the entrance of those schools.
The Ministry also instituted legal action against several individuals who used social media and websites to incite social unrest. The Ministry stressed that the main duty of the police is to protect general order and sent thanks to all citizens and residents for their cooperation with policemen.
