MANAMA: A Bahraini veteran journalist Khalid Al-Khayat has been appointed as a Media Adviser to the Executive Director at the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD).
The appointment is part of BIPD’s keenness to develop its administrative work and attract national media cadres and experts.
BIDP Executive Director Dr. Yasser Al-Alawi said that attracting Bahraini media cadres represented as one of BIDP’s main strategic goals.
Al-Khayat, who joined BIDP earlier as an Acting Media and Public Relations Director, boasts of a 26-year experience.
He began his career at the Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), where he was responsible for media affairs, events and community relations from February 1987 to 2005.
After that, Al-Khayat joined the Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) where he became the bank’s Senior Manager Corporate Communications after 3 years of service.
In 2008, the Bahrain-based Tharawat Investment House appointed him as Director of Corporate Communications.
In December, 2013, Al-Khayat was granted the Social Media Award by His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa during a special ceremony hosted by the Ministry of State for Telecommunications Affairs.
