ISLAMABAD: Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain on Wednesday vowed a firm stand against scourge of terrorism and explore the avenues of co-operation in counter-terrorism efforts.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan emphasized Pakistan’s firm supportive stance with the Kingdom of Bahrain in counter terrorism and its full support to all the measures and steps taken by the Kingdom to maintain its security and stability against any terrorist threats.
The Minister who was speaking on Al-Arabia TV stressed his country’s readiness to provide its expertise and experience of combating terrorism and extremism to Bahrain which too has its own expertise in this field under the joint cooperation agreements between the two friendly countries in security fields.
The Minister welcomed the current visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which he said is not only a visit of joint security cooperation but also includes boosting the solid bilateral relations in all fields.
The Minister added that his country has good, solid relations with all GCC countries and has distinctive brotherly relations with Bahrain which reflect positively on the growth of mutual cooperation.
He described the economic, commercial, agriculture, investment, aviation and security agreements signed on Tuesday between his country and Bahrain as a positive development of the excellent bilateral relations in the upcoming period.
The Pakistani Interior Minister said that the 9/11 incidents of New York City have been known as the biggest terrorist crime in recent history but Pakistan lost too many victims as a result of terrorism and paid so much price in the aftermath of 9/11 attacks. He said that Pakistan was the only country in the world which lost the greatest number of victims and suffered from terror attacks over the past thirteen years. However, Pakistan is still fighting terrorism and has considerable expertise in combating terrorists and extremists.
