MANAMA: With the help of Bahrain’s intelligence gathering community, the authorities have seized large cache of arms smuggling, uncovering the den of ammunitions and led to arrest many criminals.
Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Hassan Al-Hassan during the Press conference on Wednesday night to a question defended intelligence gathering capability and kept the country safe by thwarting acts of terror in the country.
“We have had many cases in which police was able to uncover the criminal dens, seizure of arms and ammunition, arresting and confiscating drugs and preventing the smuggling the illicit arms to the Kingdom through land and sea routes,” General Tariq said.
“The recent seizure of boat trying to smuggle large quantity of sophisticated arms and ammunition into Bahrain is a prime example of good intelligence gathering,” he said, adding that so many cases of pre-empted crimes never come to public domain but it doesn’t mean we have any breakdown in intelligence gathering.
