MANAMA: The Interior Ministry offers its sincere condolences to the families of the three policemen killed in the line of duty, including the UAE Officer who worked in Bahrain as part of the Amwaj Al Khaleej forces of the GCC Joint Security Agreement. All three died in a terror bombing attack that occurred while police were dispersing a group of rioters and vandals in Daih on Monday evening.
The initial investigation indicates that terrorists planted the bomb near a lamp post on Budaiya road. The device was remotely detonated while police were securing the roads and restoring order. Two other blasts also occurred in Daih that threatened the lives of citizens and policemen. Fortunately, no further injuries were reported. A fourth bomb was also discovered and defused.
Additional security measures were taken, including the deployment of police and security checkpoints around the area. Some areas were further restricted to facilitate the work of investigators. The Public Prosecution was notified.
The Interior Ministry will conduct a thorough investigation to find and arrest those responsible for the killings of the policemen.
