ISLAMABAD: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain during a historic visit to Pakistan held talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and reviewed bilateral ties.
HM the King during a meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister and discussed with him outstanding bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them mainly in the political, economic, defence, scientific and cultural fields.
He was welcomed upon arrival by the Pakistani Prime Minister who wished him a successful stay in Pakistan.
HM the King and the Pakistani Prime Minister attended the signing of six agreements and memoranda of understanding.
The agreements include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on setting up a joint ministerial committee to promote bilateral cooperation.
It was signed by Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Pakistani Minister of Finance and Revenue Mohammed Ishaq Dar.
A MoU to boost bilateral cooperation in the security and anti-terrorism field was signed by Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and his Pakistani counterpart Nisar Ali Khan.
A MoU had been signed to bolster bilateral cooperation in the energy and water field including renewable and alternative energy sources. It was concluded by State Minister for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdul Hussain Mirza and Pakistani Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Mohammed Asif.
A MoU to enhance cooperation in the food security field was also signed. It was signed by Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Abdullah Fakhro and Pakistani Minister of National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan.
An agreement to boost bilateral cooperation in the investment field was concluded by the Foreign Minister and the Pakistani Minister of Finance and Revenue.
An agreement to boost cooperation between both countries in the field of air services and trade was signed by Transportation Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed and Pakistani Minister of Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary.
They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and both countries’ stances regarding them.
After that, a broader discussion session was held in the presence of both countries’ delegations.
HM the King thanked the Pakistani Prime Minister for the invitation to visit Pakistan as well as the warm welcome and hospitality, wishing Pakistan continuous security, stability and prosperity.
HM underlined Bahrain’s keenness to further develop relations with Pakistan in all political, economic, trade, military and cultural fields, stressing the need for both countries to continue assuming their roles in serving common issues and promoting understanding and cooperation.
He highly valued the honourable stances of Pakistan towards Bahrain, commending Pakistan’s pivotal role in serving Islamic issues, fostering relations between Islamic countries and bolstering global peace and stability.
HM the King praised the efforts of the Pakistani community in Bahrain and its remarkable contribution to Bahrain’s comprehensive development.
The Pakistani Premier extended deep-felt thanks to HM the King for his key role in further cementing historic ties binding the two countries.
He lauded HM the King’s wisdom and statesmanship which enabled Bahrain to achieve its development goals.
HM the King attended a dinner banquet held in his honour by the Pakistani Prime Minister on the occasion of his visit to Pakistan. It was also attended by HM the King’s accompanying delegation and senior Pakistani officials.
